How long can the cover be left on plants ?
The Frost Protek™ cover may be left on for days or weeks at a time as long as the daytime temperature is not too hot. There is not a specific temperature which is "too hot" - just that the plant does not "cook" during a hot, sunny day. The cover may be left on indefinitely during a cold spell without any harm to the plants. The fabric is lightweight and breathable so it does not harm the plants.
Can the cover be left on plants during the day ?
Yes. The fabric allows air and UV light to penetrate through to the plants. One of the great benefits of the cover is that it does not need to be taken off each morning and then replaced each evening. The cover may be left on for days at a time if desired and the daytime temperature is not too hot. There is not a specific temperature which is "too hot" - just that the plant does not "cook" during a hot, sunny day. The cover may be left on indefinitely during a cold spell without any harm to the plants.
Can the cover be washed ?
Yes. The cover may be hand washed or washed in a washing machine. DO NOT put it in a dryer; let it air dry. The fabric dries quickly. DO NOT iron the cover.
How long will the cover last ?
With normal use and care, the cover should last for several years. It is lightweight and folds small to store easily.
What material is the cover made of ?
The fabric for all models is the same except for the color. The fabric is 100% polypropylene, which is the same fabric used by commercial growers for frost and pest protection. The fabric is lightweight and doesn't crush plants. The fabric is breathable and enables the plant to receive the air it needs. Light penetrates through the fabric to the plant . The fabric weight is 0.9 oz. per square yard (metric 30 grams per square meter). The cover protects from 4 degrees to 6 degrees below freezing, or about 28 to 26 degrees Fahrenheit (-3.0 degrees Celsius).
