The Watering Weedless Wonder was developed to reduce weed growth and to provide a more efficient and effective watering system. This revolutionary product is 44" wide x 58" long with finished edges. It is made of highly UV resistant woven polypropylene (commonly referred to as "weed barrier") with a life expectancy exceeding five (5) years
The material permits air and water to pass through the weed barrier but prevents weeds from growing up through it. The Watering Weedless Wonder is self-weighted by a 1/10" x 1" rubber strip which is encased by heat-bonding all around its edges. In its center there are either planting rows or planting holes, or a combination of both. Watering is made possible by a 3/8" porous hose (similar to "soaker hose") which is encased in the weed barrier material. When the planting rows or planting holes are cut, the resulting flap created by heat cutting 3 sides of the woven polypropylene is encased around the porous hose and is heat-bonded to hold the hose next to the row or hole so that watering occurs directly to the roots of the plant. A flow control device is placed in the female end of the 3/8" hose to restrict the amount of water coming into the hose.
The interior design of planting rows, planting holes, or the combination of both, varies from unit to unit, but all units now being manufactured are 44"x 58". Eight grommets surround each unit and 8 wire stakes are utilized for attaching individual units side by side or end to end, thus permitting numerous units to be attached to each other for larger gardens. All openings for planting are heat-cut so the woven material will not ravel.
